My sister Kylie (A.K.A. Zippaloo) of AllThingsFood, like me, enjoys eating a high Raw diet but has implemented eating 75%+ Raw one full day each week. Here are a few breakfasts inspired by her:

Here’s a great recipe by Kylie on how to make your own Nut or Seed butter.

Raw Oats
Ingredients:
- 1/2 Cup Oats
- 1/4 Cup Water
- 1/3 Cup Nut or Almond Milk
- Optional: Agave, Raisins, Dates, Nuts, Seeds, Coconut, Ground Flax Seeds, Chia Seeds, Cinnamon or other Spices
Directions:
- Put everything in a bowl and cover overnight.
- In the morning you can add fresh fruit if you’d like.
Note:
- Play around with the ratios of water and milk to find what you like. (I’m still doing this.)

Yes, that is papaya you see! I’m starting to finally like it!

Not Pictured are my breakfasts of Chia Pudding. Either the photos look awful or I forget to take photos at all. But I’m digging Chia Pudding a lot lately. I make it with Almond or Soy Milk, Chopped Nuts, Coconut, Goji Berries, sometimes dates or agave, and lots of spices (Cinnamon and Cardamom are two favorites).
I’m not all that hungry most mornings for a heavy duty breakfast, but I know it’s important to eat something, so I do and pair it with some Coconut Water. (I hope I can find some good stuff when I’m back in the US!) I eat every few hours so what I don’t get in terms of protein first thing in the morning, I get soon after. I am really into seeds and nuts though, so as you can see I add them in chopped, drink their milk, or eat their butter (which I’ve started making thanks to my Kylie).

what’s on the bananas? and what’s in the oatmeal?
Lisa,
The bananas (depending on the picture) have peanut butter or sesame seed butter (made by me), cinnamon and coconut. The oatmeal has almond milk and water plus almonds, goji berries, cinnamon and coconut. If you put your cursor over the picture you should see the description. I’ve also added a links and recipes for my sister’s raw oats and how to make homemade nut butter.
BTW Jim and I were talking about you two last night and looking forward to seeing your NZ pics, hearing about your move, and looking forward to your return back to the US (crossing our fingers you’ll come back to Boulder). Miss you guys!
Sam, I’m so so so glad to see this post, I know you have been eating raw breakfasts but I wanted you to share them with everyone.
Thank you for tagging me in this and directing your readers to my blog, it really means a lot! I’m glad to see you are enjoying raw breakfasts, yes breakfast is the most important meal of the day and everyone should eat something, and eating raw or eating fruit is fantastic for your digestive system!
Science:
While you sleep your body digests the food and collects the toxins in you body and gets the waste ready for excretion. By eating fresh fruit in the morning you allow for the fiber to push things through, the acid to regulate the pH of your GI tract, the water content to re-hydrate you resetting your blood volume and this blood pressure, filling your body with natural sugars gives your liver a easy work out in the morning because it doesn’t have to spike do to too much sugar or lots of artificial sugar, plus it helps boost your metabolism, and it sets your body in a eating pattern for the day. If you eat junk for breakfast you will probably eat junk throughout the day. If you don’t eat breakfast you will probably overeat throughout the day. Again breakfast is important and the best thing for you to eat is fresh fruit first thing, with a large glass of water.
Yay for all the nutrition and food science I have learned!!
I love your fruit plates and bowls, I have been eating a lot of homemade fruit salads lately thanks to berries being on sale and having a lot of oranges around the kitchen. Delicious! I don’t think you or I could live without fruit!
