Quading on the Beach with Raeann

Me on one of Reanne's quads

I hadn’t been quading since I was a kid. All the neighborhood kids would get together and quad in the desert.

Reanne on her quad at sunset

My friend Raeann who lives in our community invited me to quad down the beach to the estuary for sunset. It was fun riding fast along the beach where I walk every day. We did a couple jumps by the estuary and then chatted until the sun set. Riding back was fun too but with the light having gone a bit flat, I didn’t see a hole that I drove though. Ah well, just made for a more bumpy and exciting ride. I think we’ll go for a ride up into the mountains this week. Should be fun!

Side Note: Raeann owns The Tree Houses Hotel by the Arenal Volcano.

“All the neighborhood kids would get together and quad in the desert” ?? Do these ridiculous oversized Barbie jeeps just grow in the sand? Is this normal?? You had such a crazy childhood… ;)

    Sam,
I enjoyed looking at your blog. You and Jim appear to be having a great time. If you don’t mind me asking, what are you two doing for work/money while you are there? Is your place near the beach?

Thanks for the beachy updates, Sam. Bejuco is beautiful and imprinted in my memory. (Will have to quad next time I’m down there.) Hope to see you b/f too long. We’ll have a mate chai, eh?

KP – We used kid sized quads in Saudi, then graduated to the normal sized ones. No Barbie Jeeps for me (though I totally wanted one of those when I was really little).

Christian – We are taking some time off from working and are living off money we saved up as well as some profit we made when we sold out place in CO. And yes, we are a five minute walk to the beach. Such a blessing. I’m off for a walk now!

Gwen – I’m glad you have taken your Bejuco beach memories with you to keep you warm in CO. Will let you know if we make a trip in Feb (maybe we’ll overlap?) and it is looking highly likely that we’ll be moving back there at the end of April. Mate Chai indeed! I finished off the Chocolate Mate today and the Mate Chai will be gone by tomorrow (I’ve held off long enough)!
