Natasha- Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. I've already started swimming and I'm getting back into my yoga routine. I still want to implement more strength training. You're diet and fitness are an inspiration to me!
As for my mind, I'm so thankful for my sitting meditation and yoga/stretching in the morning and my meditation in action when I walk my 4 miles on the beach. I try my best to pause before acting/speaking, which allows much negativity (judgment, anger, worry) to disperse. I pray for the happiness of those who drive me crazy. I also express my fears with a close friend (often Jim) before they expand into massive boogiemen. I struggle with patience myself and I'll be sure to send good vibes/prayers of developing patience and kindness your way when I request it for myself every morning. Lastly, when all else fails, I try and help someone else out that is suffering. This allows me to get out of my head.

Sam! I know you're my sister-in-law and everything, but... ow owwwwww! You look so great and healthy :) I have to say, I have the same feelings now: I am married, and I want to a) be alive to enjoy it and b) have kids and not be in pain all the time. But I haven't found a way to put those good intentions into actions. I'd like to blame it on the climate but in the summer I wasn't too much better. Your writing (and results!) inspire me!

GREAT POST! Sam, I think it is amazing how open and honest you are, it is really touching and inspiring. Congratulations on your journey to health and strength! And let me say it is SO refreshing to read a post about health and working out that doesn't obsess about getting 'skinny'. You are RIGHT, that should never be the goal. The goal should be healthy, joy and strength. And it looks like you are definitely on the right track, way to go!

I keep my body healthy by eating a delicious vegan diet, with lots of raw foods. I excercise nearly every day, cardio and strength training. Lots of hiking with my dogs and riding my horse.

My mind I'm still working on! ;-) I worry SO much and get way too stressed about the little things, and there are many things about my personality I'd really like to work on. Patience, kindness, etc. But, like you said, work in progress! My favorite things to do to keep my mind happy is spend time with my sweet hubby, my dingo family, read books, watch tv and work out! It isn't just for my body, it is definitely moving meditation.
